Colombia - Ramiro Alarcón Washed Castillo

Ramiro Alarcón is a veteran coffee farmer based in Manzanares, Caldas, in northwestern Colombia. Ramiro and his daughter, Lorena, have recently been highlighted by international roasters as part of a strategic project designed to help smallholder farmers achieve specialty coffee status. This initiative is a critical step in providing farmers with more stable pricing and protection against the volatility of the commodity market.

The impactful work being done by Ramiro, his family, and their international partners is well-documented. His dedication to quality was recently recognized on a community level when he entered the inaugural Manzanares Coffee Competition and secured an impressive 5th place finish overall.
